Kim Reilly

My educational background
I have been teaching for over 25 years in a wide range of educational settings, from Year 0 up to 18-year olds, both in primary school settings to specialist school settings. I have taught in Auckland, London and in the Selwyn district getting to experience a wide variety of teaching environments. I have been a Reading Recovery teacher, ORRS Specialist teacher, reliever, classroom teacher and worked with young offenders in a variety of different settings.
My interests outside of work
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two teenage children. We love travelling and exploring new places around the country. I am currently teaching our oldest child to drive so I will only have to be a taxi for one soon. I love to meet friends for coffee or out for meals.  Going to the gym is another way I like to relax.
My educational passions and superpowers
I love to see students thrive in their environments and see them gain confidence to tackle anything that comes their ways. I am a huge believer that everyone will strive to be their best self if they feel safe, happy, valued and seen.  I also feel that I am in a privileged position to be able to support staff and parents on their own journeys to support their tamariki. I also have a real passion for understanding how the brain works and
trauma informed practices.
